We had another early start to the day to beat the heat, and were rewarded with some gorgeous views of the canyon along the morning part of our hike.

There is a natural hot spring just off the trail that we would be passing by today. When we got there, it was still pretty early but it was plenty full of locals and PCT hikers. We both had some mino open wounds and opted to stay out of the pools. There was definitely some FOMO but we didn’t want to risk any infection.

Bridge crossings continued today and we went over the Deep Creek Rainbow Bridge.

From this point along the trail, we were able to start getting glimpses of Mount Baldy (not being summited as part of this adventure).
A few hikers from a few days earlier caught up to us and we hiked with them for a part of the day. Max got complimented on how well his backpack fit him, especially his “load lifters”. It was a proud moment for Max.

In addition to bridges, we also came across some massive dams. Given how dry California has been this year, the dams were not holding back much.

In the afternoon, it was quite windy while hiking, which made the sun and heat more tolerable. The wind was supposed to die overnight but we were still on the lookout for a somewhat sheltered spot.
We found a nice spot and Max stacked all of the rocks on one side of the tent to break the wind and secure our tent stakes.
